Practical creator-business guides
A creator search works better when the brief is specific
“We need some influencers” gives an agency little to work with. It also produces quotes for different scopes, making comparisons misleading. A workable campaign brief states the intended outcome, the audience, deliverables and decision process without pretending every open question has already been settled.

Define the work before agreeing on a price
Name the goal and how you will judge the work
Brand awareness, product education, event sign-ups and direct sales each call for different content. Explain the product, the audience's likely problem and whether you care most about suitable creative work, reach, leads or conversions. Avoid assuming that a high follower count solves every objective.
Describe audience language and geography precisely
Specify priority countries or cities, working language, content interests and purchasing context. A Chinese-speaking creator can have followers across multiple markets; language does not establish where those followers live. If audience location is essential, ask for verifiable platform screenshots or public evidence, not unsupported claims.
Specify work, approvals and timing
List the platform, number and format of posts, expected length, who supplies product information, draft deadlines, feedback rounds, final posting dates and reporting needs. State any mandatory ad disclosures or links. Replace vague requests such as “make it feel authentic” with clear creative boundaries and factual product claims.
Make rights, exclusivity and budget explicit
If you want to reuse content in paid ads or on your own site, define territories, channels and time limits. Be precise about competing-brand restrictions. Share a budget band and say whether it includes production, creator fees, agency services, expenses and tax. An unspecified “all-inclusive” price often hides differences.
Request comparable answers from every candidate
Use the same response fields: profile link, primary audience market, relevant examples, production capability, availability, quote inclusions, rights exclusions and contact owner. Record the source and verification date. Distinguish independent creators from agency-managed or reposting accounts before you shortlist.

Frequently asked questions
Can an agency research creators before we know the budget?
Yes, but even a provisional range and a standard content scope make early quotes more meaningful. A collection of prices for unlike deliverables is not a valid comparison.
Should an MCN rate be compared directly with a creator's rate?
Not without checking inclusions. An agency fee may also cover planning, talent management, coordination and settlement. Compare scope and services first, then price.
